While there’s no sign that the United States wants to follow Sweden’s example and move towards an entirely cash-free society, a growing number of consumers now view digital payments as the norm, and casinos have started to react to that demand.
For the gaming industry to continue to prosper, it must continually reinvent itself to keep pace with consumer demands and technological advancements. One advancement that has expanded throughout entertainment industries is the use of digital payments. The gaming industry has begun to embrace digital payments, as consumers expect to pay in the same fashion as they pay for other entertainment options, such as shows and restaurant meals.
The opening of the $4.3 billion Resorts World Las Vegas attracted publicity for a host of reasons—from its potential to attract more tourist dollars to its grand opening party starring Miley Cyrus. However, one of the features that generated the most interest was the decision to make mobile payments technology integral to the guest experience.
