Harold A. "Hal" Crawford is a Managing Director with A&M Disputes and Investigations in New York. He specializes in financial crime prevention, anti-money laundering, sanctions, and complex regulatory matters affecting financial institutions, custodians, gaming companies, foreign banks, fintech companies and private funds. With more than 30 years of international regulatory experience, Mr. Crawford has served as the Director of Compliance, the Global Director of AML, Sanctions, and banking compliance for an international private bank. He also served as the Director of Risk Management for the firm's U.S. and Cayman Trust companies. Mr. Crawford has held many key regulatory and risk roles including that of National Bank Examiner with the U.S. Treasury Department's Comptroller of the Currency, was a Managing Director with a New York-based Intelligence firm, as well as held senior compliance roles at UBS Investment Bank and the U.S. Trust Company. Mr. Crawford has worked with many clients over the past few years performing vulnerability assessments, compliance evaluations and gap assessments, and helping to implement regulatory action plans in response to written agreements, reports of examination and internal audit findings. He has directed two U.S. government monitorships; one for a global financial institution related to U.S. sanctions and the other for a sports book operator dealing with money laundering. Mr. Crawford earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the State University College at Oneonta and is a 2014 recipient of the school's Distinguished Alumni Award. He is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), a member of the New York ACAMS Chapter Board and a former member of the SIFMA AML Committee. He has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 30 years and is a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island's Investment Advisory Board. Mr. Crawford is a well-known international speaker and writer in the areas of compliance and money laundering. He is often quoted in the press and on-line for matters within his expertise.
