Thomas N. Auriemma is one of the casino industry's leading gaming attorneys and consultants and is the 2019 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Gaming Advisors for his many contributions to the gaming industry. He has a wealth of knowledge based on 40 years of experience. He is an experienced litigator, skilled problem solver and a highly valued business counselor. Auriemma is a member of four compliance committees. He is a long-time member of the Penn National Gaming, Inc. Compliance Committee. From 2007 to 2011, Auriemma was the Vice President/Chief Compliance Officer of Penn National Gaming, Inc. and president of a number of its subsidiaries. Penn National is a regionally diversified gaming company and one of North America's largest operators of gaming facilities. Auriemma was instrumental in obtaining the required regulatory approvals in Penn National's 2013 REIT spin-off of Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. Auriemma is Chairman of the Compliance Committee (since 2014) for The Stars Group, Inc. (formerly Amaya Inc.). The Stars Group is an innovative entertainment solutions provider for the gaming industry and a worldwide internet gaming company. Auriemma is a member of the Compliance Committee (since 2014) for MGM Resorts International, one of the world's leading global hospitality companies. He was the Chairman of the Committee in 2016 and will be again in 2020. In 2017, Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment, a tribal and commercial gaming company headquartered in Connecticut, selected Auriemma as the Chairman of its Compliance Committee. Auriemma was an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, where he created and taught a gaming law course. From 2011 to 2013, Auriemma was a member of the Board of Directors of Revel AC, Inc., a company that owned a casino hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey; he was the Chairman of Revel's Compliance Committee and a member of its Audit and Compensation Committees. From 2013 to 2015, he served as the Chairman of the Compliance Committee of Cadillac Jack, Inc., a supplier of innovative games and systems to the global gaming industry. From 2011 to 2018, Auriemma was a member of the Compliance Committee of Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada. Auriemma is also a strategic advisor to gaming and other companies. Auriemma serves as an expert witness in litigation. Recently, he was the expert witness for Elaine Wynn in her litigation involving Wynn Resorts and Steve Wynn. Previously, Auriemma was a casino regulator in New Jersey for over 28 years. In 2002, he was appointed by the Governor of New Jersey as the Director of the Division of Gaming Enforcement, one of the world's most recognized casino regulatory agencies. He held this position until 2007. He also served as the Deputy Director for the agency for over a decade. In these roles, Auriemma served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New Jersey. Auriemma's other experience includes working as a Deputy Attorney General in the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice and as the Deputy Director of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission's Legal Division. Auriemma also has experience in the private practice of law. Auriemma is a member of the New Jersey and New York bars and has been admitted to practice law before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Auriemma has served as the Secretary, Vice Chair, and Chair of the International Association of Gaming Regulators and is a member of the International Association of Gaming Advisors and the International Masters of Gaming Law. He is a prolific speaker on gaming issues at national and international conferences and universities. Recently, Auriemma provided an oral history of New Jersey gaming for the UNLV Gaming Law Journal, Volume 7, Number 1, P.33, Spring 2017 in which he describes some of the most eventful moments in New Jersey's 40 years of gaming.
